Outreach Training Program Requirements

OSHA has revised the program guidelines to improve the worker training program. New documents include Program Requirements and seperate Industry Procedures for Construction, General Industry, Maritime, and Disaster Site Worker.

The most recent Program Requirements are dated April 2011. For your convenience we have added the document summarizing the most recent changes, program requirements and seperate industry procedures in Adobe Acrobat PDF format to this page. Recent Program Updates

  1. Require a two-hour Introduction to OSHA training component be included in all outreach courses
  2. Limit training to a maximum of 7.5 hours per day
  3. Require trainers to issue student cards directly to the student within 90 days of the class
  4. Require all 10-hour construction classes to include at least 4 hours on Focus Four hazards
  5. Require all 30-hour classes to include 2 hours on managing safety and health
  6. Reinforce the intended emphasis of the program by limiting training conducted outside OSHA’s jurisdiction
  7. Classes are limited to a maximum of 40 students and a minimum of 3 students.
